Debbie-King---Fast-and-Female-Anti-Racism-and-Respect-Committee

Debbie King (she/her)

Chair

Debbie is a Toronto-based mother, multi-sport athlete, fitness leader and community champion. Since joining Fast & Female in 2018, she has participated in live and online events as a REAL (Relatable, Empowered, Active Leader) Role Model, Champ Chat emcee, and Girl, You Got This (GYGT) keynote speaker.

Debbie proudly identifies as Canadian-born of Afro-Caribbean ethnicity and Christian faith, and as an active advocate for racial equity in female fitness, sport and public education spaces. She’s consistently used her platforms to foster professional and consumer connections to Black and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and people of colour)-centred leaders in wellness spaces in particular.

Her professional and volunteer resume includes communications, fitness management and sport coaching while her personal passion for sport and fitness is undeniable. Previous community leadership roles include Co-Chair of the Queen Victoria P.S. Parent Council and Chair of its Black Student Success Committee.

As Chair of the Fast & Female ARRC, Debbie hopes to build on the amazing work F&F is doing nationwide by embedding an anti-racism and respect analysis into everything the organization does, so that girls and women who have historically been underserved will be represented, engaged and inspired to reap the many benefits of sport participation thus contributing to a healthier fabric of equality and leadership among Canadian women.
