Jumpstart Community Development Grant Recipient

Fast and Female Supporting Women in Sports Foundation is excited to share that we are a recipient of Canadian Tire Jumpstart’s Community Development Grant!

Canadian Tire Jumpstart is a Canadian charity that “helps kids overcome financial accessibility barriers to sport and recreation, in an effort to provide inclusive pay for kids of all abilities”. Since 2005 Jumpstart has disbursed more than $225 million to help over 3 million kids and counting.

Along with Jumpstart, we understand the importance of sport for the health and well-being of kids and their families and are proud of the work we do to provide community sport and play. With Jumpstart’s support,  we will be able to continue to work towards our mission of empowering self-identified girls through sport and physical activity. We will do this by investing in the following areas:

  1. Strategic Planning – building out what our key focuses and plan will be for the next 18 months, if not longer.
  2. Fund Development– starting to invest in building a sustainable, diverse revenue model to take Fast and Female to the next level
  3. Human Resource Capacity – People power! Investing in our staff team and starting to grow

Our goal in focusing on these key areas is to ultimately kickstart (or jumpstart, pun intended) Fast and Female. The past few years have been an opportunity to pause and reflect on who we are, what we are known for, and who we want to be when we “grow up”. The lingering impacts of COVID-19, alongside much internal reflection and an overdue focus on the need for an intersectional, anti-racist and anti-oppressive lens to our operations, including our program development and delivery, have highlighted the need for change and strategy. We are excited to continue sharing with our community what we’ve been up to and what we’ll be doing next, so stay tuned!
