May 2024 Recap: Events, Programs, and Partnerships
May was a momentous month for Fast and Female as we broke new records in our mission to empower girls through sport, physical activity, and education!
Let’s take a look back at what happened last month:
Events
We hosted a number of major events in May! In fact, in one weekend alone, we engaged 5,200 girls at our annual Girls Run in Canmore, AB and at GirlJam 2024 in Toronto, ON!

Capital LEAD Summit 2024
Earlier this month, Fast and Female joined OSEG Foundation and the City of Ottawa to host its first Capital LEAD Summit — a day where over 250 girls from local schools participated in a wealth of workshops and activities devoted to personal growth and development.

Girls Run 2024
At our annual Girls Run event in Canmore, Alberta on May 25 & 26, close to 200 girls pushed their limits, discovered new passions for physical activity, and built connections with role models!
The energy and enthusiasm at the event was truly inspirational. We want to extend a huge shout-out to all who participated, volunteered, and took part in our Girls Run weekend.
We also want to extend special thanks to our long-time sponsor, Rocky Mountain Soap Co., for their continued partnership. Another big thanks goes out to BMO Canada, a new sponsor for this year. Without support, we could not make events like the Girls Run possible.
GirlJam 2024
Simultaneously on May 25th, we joined forces with Girl Guides of Canada, Ontario Council, to deliver GirlJam 2024 in Toronto, ON.
This empowering experience drew in 5,000 Guiding friends from across Ontario and Nunavut. Fast and Female facilitated a variety of engaging physical activity stations, as well as our popular Positive Affirmation Station and The Leader Within All of Us Station.
We were also thrilled to feature three renowned women athletes — Saroya Tinker, Nikkita Holder, and Carla Portillo — who shared their inspiring stories and experiences with the girls.
A big thank you to Girl Guides of Canada, Ontario Council for this incredible opportunity!
Programs
In addition to our incredible events, our Programs team helped deliver a spectacular event – also in collaboration with Girl Guides of Canada, Ontario Council.
The Great Guiding Trek 2024
Fast and Female collaborated with Girl Guides of Canada, Ontario Council to deliver The Great Guiding Trek, a six-week program where Guiding friends can participate in a variety of activities to move together.
Units from across Ontario and Nunavut had to reach a collective objective milestone of 30,519 km in the form of completing several activities, which were tracked virtually online every week.
Participants in The Great Guiding Trek exceeded the goal, with 47,794.06 final kilometres tracked! The top three units in the program were: 49th Windsor Guides; 85th Oneida Rangers; and 27th Windsor Guides.
Thank you again to GirlGuides of Canada, Ontario Council and all participants for a spectacular six weeks of movement and physical activity!
Partnerships
We also collaborated with a few organizations in May.
Gillette Venus x The Saltwater Collective Sponsorship Announcement
We were honoured to announce a new partnership with Gillette Venus and The Saltwater Collective for their “Any Body is a Beach Body” campaign.
Through this exciting sponsorship, 40 percent of the profits from The Saltwater Collective’s new swimwear line will go towards funding Fast and Female’s community programs across Canada.
Our collective goal is to empower girls and allow them to feel comfortable and confident in their bodies. Additionally, we are committed to developing an exciting new curriculum focused on body image and self-esteem.
#KeepHerPlaying Campaign with Always and Real Canadian Superstore
Let’s keep girls in the game and playing with confidence!
Last month, we also recently partnered with Always and Real Canadian Superstore to help empower girls and their inclusion in sport.
From April 28 to May 25, 2024, a portion of every Always pads purchased in a Real Canadian Superstore was donated back to Fast and Female to support programming and delivering an evidence-based curriculum covering topics such as body confidence.
Thank You For a Memorable May!
We want to extend a big thank you again to everyone who participated in our events and programs and those who supported us and made May a memorable month to look back on!
