Your favourite sport/ physical activity
My favourite sport is baseball (my favourite team is the Toronto Blue Jays). My favourite ways to move my body are running, yoga, walking, and HIIT workouts. I also love to swim (it was my favourite throughout both of my pregnancies).
Your favourite post-workout snack
Bananas and fruit smoothies (I also love a good protein bar!).
Your favourite pump-up song
I don’t have a favourite pump-up song—it changes depending on my mood or workout. However, I rotate through songs like Arcade Fire’s Everything Now, The Chemical Brothers’ Block Rockin’ Beats, Love Me Again by John Newman, and movie soundtracks (I love a good movie soundtrack!). I also love Future Islands to get me excited about working out!
What advice would you give your 12-year-old self?
Be kind to yourself. Slow down and enjoy childhood; there’s no rush to grow up. And lean into those extracurricular activities – sports, art, theatre, etc.
Who is your role model, and why?
I don’t have one role model. I’ve got quite a few in my life—from family, friends, and colleagues to even my own daughters (they continue to inspire me and push me to be better). I also admire women like Jane Goodall, Roberta Bondar, Mae Jemison, Serena Williams, Angelina Jolie, Simone Biles, and Mackenzie Scott (I have more!). I’m inspired by the work these women do/have done and by their pursuit and commitment to being excellent through sport, philanthropy, humanitarian work, and science.
How did you first get involved with Fast and Female? Tell your story!
I started working with Fast and Female in March 2024, and I couldn’t be happier being a part of the team and community! I have two daughters who are also happy and proud that I’m involved with Fast and Female (and want to be at all the events we do!). I’m so excited to learn from this team, grow with this team, and continue ensuring that everything we do is in pursuit of our mission.
