Event Update – Girl’s Run

UPDATED JUNE 30, 2020

Though the Rocky Mountain Soap Co Girl’s Run is something we look forward to each year, we understand and support the decision to postpone to 2021. We’re disappointed, but with health, safety, and positive experiences being at the top of everyone’s priority list, we know it’s the right choice.

The good news is we can still put our training and positive vibes to use and get out for a community run, walk, or wheel this year! Although camps, practices and competitions may be cancelled, community, confidence, role models, and sport/physical activity aren’t. Now is our chance to come together as one big team to keep girls in the game and to remind them, Girl You Got THIS

UPDATED MAY 22, 2020

Hello Fast and Female Community. We hope you’re doing well, staying healthy, active, and spreading love.
Please see the latest update from our partners at the Rocky Mountain Soap Women’s Run & Walk.

While we remain hopeful that there will be a rescheduled run in the fall and are holding your place on the start line for the Girl’s Run with your current registration, we’re also working on an exciting virtual program that we’ll be announcing at the start of June. We will be offering registration transfers when that announcement is made, and will contact all Girl’s Run registrants directly in the coming days. However, if a refund is something you need during these times, we won’t be able to save your spot, but please reach out to us directly and we’ll work it out.

Our team continues to work remotely and remains committed to supporting the girls, you, and each other during this time (and getting in our ABCs when we can). Check out our resources page for more fun activities.
We’re still figuring out what comes next, but in the meantime, we want to hear from you. If you have ideas, some spare time, or resources to share, please take a few minutes to check out our suggestion boxes!

Thank you for your ongoing support and patience.

A COVID-19 update for Women’s Run participants (May 21): Postponed race plan to be announced by June 30

Thanks to all of you, our loyal participants, who have been so patient these past couple of months. Everyone has been busy figuring out a new normal in both personal and professional lives, and as things start to reopen, we are all hoping to fill out the calendar and regain a sense of control over our future!

The final decision on the fall Women’s Run will be made no later than June 30.

Coming into what would have been the 2020 Women’s Run weekend in Canmore, there is a bit of sadness as we will miss our favourite weekend of the year, and also a feeling of gratitude that our community is still healthy and looking towards the day that we can welcome visitors back in groups once again! Our team has been continuously monitoring the situation alongside local stakeholders and governing bodies, and working through the logistics behind the postponement of the Rocky Mountain Soap Women’s Run & Walk.

Group events in Alberta have been cancelled through to the end of August, and we are still planning for the RMS Women’s Run to place in the fall. Guidelines are changing frequently, and we need to ensure the safety of our participants, volunteers, staff, and community before announcing the postponed race date. None of the organizations involved have ever dealt with the uncertain terms that we are facing and, at the moment, the fact is that we cannot commit to a specific fall race date at this time.

We know that a 2020 race in the current situation might look a little different from past years, as significant uncertainty remains around travel restrictions and guidelines for physical distancing in a group setting. Saying this, we are as committed as ever to providing you all with an incredible race experience and offerings like every other year!
In order to proceed with the final planning and preparation for the Women’s Run, we need to be sure that:

  • Government of Alberta guidelines allow for outdoor events and group gatherings
  • Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park is able to host large-scale events
  • The Town of Canmore is welcoming visitors in large groups
  • The Women’s Run can take place in a modified manner while ensuring the health and safety of participants, volunteers, and staff

With that in mind, we will make a firm decision on the postponement of the 2020 Rocky Mountain Soap Women’s Run by June 30.

REFUNDS
With our June 30 announcement, we will also present the option to receive a refund in case the fall date does not work for you. In the event that we are not able to meet the criteria to move forward with the RMS Women’s Run in 2020, all participants will automatically have their registration rolled over to the 2021 races with no additional cost.

Should you wish to receive a refund at this time, opting out of the postponed Women’s Run event, please click here: https://zone4.ca/register.asp?id=23931

NOTE ON REFUNDS: We suggest that participants wait until the next announcement before requesting a refund. Should the 2020 event not be able to take place, your registration will automatically roll into the Spring 2021 Women’s Run, avoiding the need for an online rush to get a spot next year! If you prefer to take the refund now, we are more than happy to help you with this.

A big thanks to all of you for messages of support and understanding thus far. Kindness and patience are two virtues that we have all been learning to practice, and we look forward to seeing you again soon!

APRIL 8, 2020

To the Fast and Female Community,

We hope you’re doing well, staying active, healthy, and safely distanced. We have been working closely with our partners at the Rocky Mountain Soap Women’s Run & Walk and with them, have decided to postpone the Fast and Female Girl’s Run scheduled for the weekend of May 23-24 to the fall of 2020. Reducing the spread of COVID-19 and protecting the health and safety of our participants, volunteers, staff, ambassadors, and partners is our top priority.

We look forward to seeing you at the rescheduled run in the fall and are holding your place on the start line with your current registration. If a refund is something you need during these times, we won’t be able to save your spot, but please reach out to us directly and we’ll work it out.

This community we have all built together is strongresilient, and overwhelmingly caring. We feel that caring is a Fast and Female superpower that we all possess. Our ability to come together in vulnerability and strength is what makes us who we are.

Our team continues to work remotely and remains committed to supporting the girls, you, and each other during this time (and doing some push-ups when we can). We’re still figuring out what comes next, but in the meantime, we want to hear from you. If you have ideas, some spare time, or resources to share, please take a few minutes to check out our suggestion boxes!

Thank you for your ongoing support and patience.
