BREAKING BARRIERS: CELEBRATING OUR TOP 10 MOMENTS OF 2024!

As we say goodbye to 2024, we’re thrilled to reflect on the success of our year! 2024 was truly record-breaking. With the support of our community of Role Models, supporters, partners, grantors, sponsors, parents/guardians, loved ones, and our team, we:

  • Empowered over 10,000 girls in 2024
  • Provided 29 events and programs for girls to participate in
  • Saw 198 Role Models inspire the next generation of leaders

In chronological order (to the best of our abilities!!), here are our Top 10 Moments of 2024:

OUR BUILT TO PROGRAM PORTFOLIO

(Built to Run, Built to Play, Built to Run, Jump and Play, and Built to Box)

This year, our Built To programs like Built to Box and Built to Run empowered hundreds of girls to break barriers and build confidence through sport. These initiatives inspired participants to embrace their full potential and embody strength in every sense of the word. Thank you to our partners who made our programs possible:

  • Built to Run, Jump, Play – June 2024 in Scarborough, ON thanks to Athletics Canada
  • Built to Play, Girls Soccer – Summer 2024 in Scarborough, ON in partnership with Girls & Women in Motion, thanks to MLSE Foundation
  • Built to Run, Girl’s Program in Okotoks, AB, Scarborough, ON, and Calgary, AB thanks to Strathcona Tweedsmuir School, MLSE Foundation, and Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities

NIKE TORONTO COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE

(March – June, Toronto, ON)

We were thrilled to host the Nike Toronto Community of Practice, bringing together leaders to share strategies for breaking down barriers for girls in sport. HILLBERG & BERK INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CAMPAIGN

(March – Virtual)

Our collaboration with Hillberg & Berk for International Women’s Day celebrated strength and resilience while raising critical funds to empower girls. This campaign highlighted the transformative power of sport and its role in creating confident women. GIRL GUIDES – GREAT GUIDING TREK & GIRL JAM

(Virtual, ON and NT; in-person, Toronto ON; April – May)

From the Great Guiding Trek to Girl Jam, our partnership with Girl Guides Ontario and Nunavut brought movement and leadership skills to thousands of girls. Annual Girls Run

(May – Canmore, AB)

Hosted alongside the Rocky Mountain Soap Women’s Run, our Girls Run brought together families and athletes for a day of empowerment and connection. With funds raised to support our mission, this event proved the power of community in creating change. Events with OSEG Foundation

(March and October – Ottawa, ON)

From the Capital LEAD Summit to Sports Day the Girls’ Way, our collaboration with the OSEG Foundation empowered girls with tools to thrive as leaders. Procter & Gamble Campaigns: Always and Gillette Venus

(April – August, Virtual)

The Always #KeepHerPlaying campaign built confidence in girls during critical years, while Gillette Venus #AnyBodyIsABeachBody celebrated body positivity and inclusion. Play to Lead Program with Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities

(Halifax, Thunder Bay, and Montreal – September – October)

Through summits in Halifax, Thunder Bay, and Montreal, we were thrilled to be invited to support the delivery of the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Play to Lead Program, focusing on eight key leadership skills for girls aged 14-17. Our workshops on navigating conflict and role model mentorship inspired the next generation of leaders.

 

 

Charity of Choice for Runs Across Canada

(All Year – AB, ON, BC)

 

We were honored to be a charity of choice for events like the Scarborough 5K, 5 Peaks Series, Royal Victoria Marathon, and Toronto Waterfront Marathon. Thanks to the generosity of runners and their communities, over $14,600 was raised to support our work.

Move For The Girls

(Virtual and in-person pop-ups – October)

Our first-ever Move For The Girls event, celebrating International Day of the Girl, was a highlight of the year. With in-person pop-ups across six provinces and a vibrant virtual community, we moved for an astounding 123,302 minutes and raised $24,123.25. This event showcased the incredible power of movement, connection, and collective impact.
